Rent is going up faster in Brampton than any other Canadian city, data shows

Chamanpreet Kaur, an international student at York University, had difficulty finding an affordable apartment in Brampton, where rent prices have skyrocketed by up to 29% in the past year. Kaur and her two roommates now pay $2,000 plus $140 for utilities, leaving her to cut back on basic necessities like groceries. The rising rent prices are due to the influx of new immigrants to Brampton, making it an ideal market for international students who can't afford rent in Toronto.
